Brass rubbing is a major tourist attraction in London and Paris, with busloads of school children and families descending on churches and brass rubbing centers to copy the historic engravings.
The streets of New York are dotted with some fabulous brasses, none quite so old as the ones in European cities, but still crying out for appreciation.
I am attempting to compile a catalog of all the brasses in New York. As this site evolves, I hope to add maps indicating where the brasses are located, along with photographs of each and every one.
If you find brasses that you would like to add to this site, please feel free to join and submit your photographs!
